A UK startup has launched a drone that’s so tiny, it’ll fit in your pocket, just like your smartphone or wallet. In fact, it’s so small it actually fits on the back of your smartphone as part of its case, allowing you to just slip it out when you want to capture the world around you and start recording.

The drone is operated via an app on your phone too, meaning you’ll need nothing more than your device when you head out to film the skies.

To ensure you don’t have to put too much effort into flying the AirSelfie drone, the flying device will fly autonomously when it reaches its altitude, taking the pain away from having to move it left and right, backwards and forwards as well as up and down.

You can control the AirSelfie drone down to the ground for a safe landing, into your other hand, or simply grab it from the air when you’ve finished flying, making it a much easier process o pack up and go than its larger counterparts.

Three modes are supported: selfie mode, which offers up just two directions for the drone to go, selfie motion control, which turns the controller app into a joystick and flying mode, which allows you to use your smartphone as a standard drone controller.

The drone itself weighs just 52g and is made from an anodised aluminium case to make it so light and extra-durable.

“Outdoors or indoors, its avant-garde portable technology makes it easy to use whenever and wherever you feel the need to catch your lifesize emotions,” the company said on its Kickstarter page.

The phone cover is currently available for iPhone 6/6S, iPhone 7/7 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Huawei P9, Google Pixel, although the company may be making it for a variety of other devices when it goes into production.
