SunFounder has launched the SunFounder PiCar-S Raspberry Pi, a self build robotic car that’s perfect for racing against other remote controlled cars, with an easy-to-programme UI and sensors to stop collisions.
The kit comes with the complete kit for building the car, including all the chassis pieces, wheels, motor drivers, ultrasonic obstacle avoidance, light follower, and line follower sensors to stop it crashing into obstacles and if you don’t already have a Raspberry Pi microcomputer, you can pay a little extra for the brains of the car too.
If you just can’t wait to get your car zooming around a track in your living room, it comes with pre-written code so it’ll work straight out the box (of course, you’ll ned to put it together first). You can then tinker with the code if you want using companion app Dragit. More advanced coders can use Python to completely customise the abilities of their car.
The PiCar-S Raspberry Pi will set you back $159.99 (£119.26) if you need the Raspberry Pi board, or $119.99 (£89.44) if you don’t need the board. It’s available to buy at this special price from Stack Social, but the deal ends in a week, so you’ll have to be quick if you want to take advantage.
