There’s nothing more frustrating than your bottle inadvertently opening when it’s in your bag and spilling over the entire contents right?

Now one company has developed a bottle that responds to the touch of only your lips, allowing you to drink from any part of the circular rim. When you move your lips away, the lid will close, becoming completely resistant to any spills. The Lyd cup is like an adult version of the 360-degree drinking cup, but a lot more advanced than the kiddy version because it really cannot spill, however violent you are with it.

“We turned to Kickstarter because we saw ourselves on the leading edge of a way to stop the classic water bottle spill,” the company said on its Kickstarter page. ” We believe Lyd Bottle will help people in their day-to-day lives while, in turn, help the environment as well. The funds raised during this campaign will help us place initial orders with our manufacturer. Every dollar counts towards creating a spill-free, worry free world.”

It’s also not just reserved for cold drinks (although it’ll keep them cool). Because the Lyd is insulated, it’ll keep a drink hot or cold for hours. It uses a double-walled steel configuration, so unlike traditional thermos flasks, there’s not really much chance of it breaking.

Because the opening and closing mechanism and sensors need juice, Lyd has integrated wireless charging into the cup, so although you will need to remember to charge it, at least there aren’t any bulky battery compartments for you to have to deal with. The good news is that if you do forget to charge your Lyd, you can still use a manual click action to open and close the lid, although, it’s not as fun really, is it?

Lyd has raised almost £42,000 via its Kickstarter campaign – way above the £23,400 it wanted to raise. Flasks are due to ship in November and will cost from £35 for the 370ml bottle or £40 for the larger, 480ml bottle.
