We’ve already covered one product that transforms your everyday blinds into smart blinds, but here’s another that will superpower your window coverings.

Axis Gear’s smart controller makes your standard window blinds autonomous, by connecting to a wall unit and your smartphone via Bluetooth and Zigbee.

The Axis Gear has been around for a while, but CES 2018 was the first time it was properly showcased to the industry and it really does look like a great product for those too lazy to get up and open or close their blinds.

It does come at a higher price than the MySmartBlinds kit, which only costs $99 – in fact, it’s $150 more expensive. But, you’re paying for a more advanced and a more established brand.

However, for that price, not only do you get the unit to retrofit onto your existing loop chain blinds (essentially the motor that makes the blinds move up and down), you’ll also get a control unit, which mounts to the wall. It had a touch sensitive panel that allows you to open or close the blinds in increments to find the perfect position.

It also ships with a companion app for Android and iOS, which also allows you to control your blinds from the sofa or even if you’re at work if it’s getting dark outside and

The Axis Gear also integrates with Samsung’s SmartThings, so you can use it with Samsung’s smart home network too. The company also has some rather smart extras coming up too, including Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can control it using the power of your voice too.
